The 2027 Chicago Marathon lottery opened today, with applications accepted until Oct. 29. Runners can apply for guaranteed spots through various categories, including charity and legacy entries. The non-guaranteed lottery is free and open to all, with results announced on Dec. 8.

Qualifying times allow runners to bypass the lottery. The required times are the same as 2026, with adjustments for age groups. These times must be from a full marathon run between Jan. 1, 2025, and Oct. 29, 2026. Half-marathons and ultras do not qualify. Read more racing coverage.

The High Performance Program offers 300 spots for faster runners, with entry fees reduced. The program is open until Sept. 1, 2027, or until full. Charity runners now need to raise $2,500, up from $2,200 in 2026. Travel packages from approved operators are also available.
