The Great Britain & Northern Ireland U20 team for the Loughborough International has been announced.
The Great Britain and Northern Ireland U20 team for the Loughborough International has been announced. It is widely seen as the traditional domestic season opener and takes place on Sunday (18 May). Teams from England, Wales, Scotland, Great Britain U20, Loughborough and the National Athletics League compete against each other in all disciplines. Athletes are able to enter as guests in most events.
Included in the team is Shaikira King in the women’s 800m. Shaikira ran 2:01.65 in her season opener at the Belfast Irish Milers Meet last weekend. This is just 0.04 seconds shy of her PB. She won silver in the 800m at last year’s European U18 Championships and bronze at this year’s British Indoor Championships.
The following athletes will compete in the middle and long distance events:
800m: Shaikira King & Jack Organ (Brecon)
Mile: Isobelle Jones (Wolverhampton & Bilston) & Zachary Dunne (City of Norwich)
3000m: Isla McGowan (Banbury) & Luke Dunham (Herts Phoenix)
3000SC: Tilly Nickell (Team Bath) & Dillon Millard (Taunton AC)
Para 1500m: Logan Murray (Cornwall AC)
