Gabrielle Pinder and Abdinasir Elmi ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (Saturday 3rd May).
Our weekly parkrun top ten is sponsored by the Coggiola Endurance Centre, a residential coaching and performance facility in the Italian Alps. Follow on Instagram for more updates in the new future.
Gabrielle Pinder takes the honours this weekend, running 16:43 at Redcar parkrun. That time is a four second parkrun best for the U15 athlete, improving on her 17:47 at Albert parkrun last month. She has had an excellent start to the year, including age-group wins at the National XC Championships and English Schools XC. Midweek, she ran an impressive 4:28.30 1500m to move into the British top-20 all time for U15s.
In his parkrun debut, Abdinasir Elmi set the fastest time of the weekend, clocking 14:32 at Bournemouth. The Bournemouth-based athlete has had an excellent year, winning eleven of his last twelve races. These include two in January, the Southern XC Championships over 15k and the Stubbington 10k. His time this weekend is a fair way shy of his road PB, which sits at 13:55 from Battersea Park on New Year’s Eve.
Best of the Rest
Morgan Millar moves up one place from last weekend’s rankings, to second on the women’s top-ten. The Central AC athlete ran 17:09 at Drumpellier Country parkrun. That venue last appeared in the rankings in 2019. Ten seconds behind, and across the border, Claire Frankland ran 17:19 at Keswick to complete the top-three.
The rest of the men’s podium is completed by two athletes who also ran inside fifteen minutes. At Cannon Hill in Birmingham, Brett Rushman ran 14:48 whilst Jack Pickett clocked 14:51 at Telford.
Fastest Course
Two courses appear twice this weekend, but with a fourth and sixth place, Seaford Beach parkrun takes the title of fastest course this weekend. Given the weather, it is definitely a good time to be beside the seaside!
