Isabella Buchanan and Jake Smith ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (Saturday 29th March).

Isabella Buchanan tops the women’s rankings after running 16:41 at Hastings parkrun. It is the U15 athlete’s first parkrun since December 2023, when she clocked a hugely impressive 16:37 at the same course – as an U13! Isabella has had some good cross country performances so far this year, as well as a 4:55.64 indoor mile at Lee Valley in February. Undoubtedly there are many more fast times to come during 2025.
Jake Smith leads the men’s rankings this weekend, clocking a speedy 14:17 at Derry City parkrun. It is Jake’s second parkrun of the year, after clocking 15:20 at Tidworth at the start of the year. That time is also only two seconds shy of his parkrun best – 14:15 in 2022. He was one of many fast athletes who took to the course as part of Tom Baird’s stag do celebrations – many running in speed suits of various countries and sponsors!

Best of the Rest
There were some exceptionally close times in the remainder of the women’s rankings this weekend. Just two seconds separated second and seventh spot! Quickest of the rest was Emily Kearney, who completed Birkenhead in 17:19. Just one second behind was Erin Willmers with 17:20 at Salisbury. The next four women all finished in 17:21!
We stay in Derry City for second spot on the men’s list, which goes to James Edgar. He ran 14:40. The podium is completed by Ross Skelton who ran 15:03 at Hastings.
Fastest Course
With three places in the men’s top-ten, including the top two, this week the fastest course has to be Derry City.
