Isobelle Jones and Jack Pickett ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this weekend (5th October).

Once again there are repeat names in the top 10 and podium for parkrun this weekend but it’s all change at the top.
Indira Patel tried to make it another week to celebrate, but it was on the ground at Walsall Arboretum that we saw some racing between Patel and Isobelle Jones, with excellent runs of 16:25 and 16:35 putting the midlands event in the limelight today.
Wolverhampton and Bilston AC U20 Jones has an impressive 5k best of 16:06 and this is a big parkrun PB, although it is her first since March 2022 so it’s not a big surprise to see the improvement given other strong racing results over the last two years on the road, track and cross country.
Jack Pickett kept the name Jack at the top of the podium, despite competition once again from Mohammed Hussein in second place again (with 15:03). Pickett was the only athlete under 15 minutes with a 14:43 at Telford parkrun. As another Wolverhampton & Bilston AC runner it was a double for the club this Saturday.
The best of the rest
At Stonehouse parkrun Lisa Mary Bailey was third fastest woman with 17:21. It was seven seconds away from a new best for the 2:44 marathoner but a good sign of current fitness being right up there just two weeks after running a fast leg at the Southern Women’s 4-Stage Relays.
Harry McKenzie was third chap, with 15:06 at Belfast Victoria parkrun, which regularly features in this list. The youngster from Enniskillen RC has been improving brilliantly in 2024 with new PBs at 1500m, 3000m and the mile.
The fastest course?
Belfast Victoria and Walsall Arboretum featured twice, but it’s an easy decision this week with the two rapid performances in Walsall. We imagine it was exciting to watch as well!
