How many seasons have you been Community Coordinators?
This Fall will be our 9th season! We’ve enjoyed everyone!
Tell us about yourselves! What inspired you to join HKRS?
We’re two married couples who are great friends and business partners. We have Kentucky roots, but met each other in Nocatee about a year before our first race. We hit it off over a shared love of running and our wonderful community. John first heard about HKRS from a real estate client who suggested that HKRS would be a great addition to the Nocatee community. As soon as he looked into it, he knew we needed to bring it to Nocatee. Now that we’re nine seasons in, we enjoy seeing the kids who started young and are now getting to the longer distances. They’re so fast! And big!
What is the biggest success as Coordinators (or favorite race day moment)?
We love seeing kids LOVE running. We all know running is hard, but hard things are good things. Seeing kids each season smiling across that finish line and excited to show up every week makes it all worth it. Some of our favorite moments center around good sportsmanship and fierce competition. One week, we had two kids in the 4-5 year old race tie for first, and they were such good sports about it. They put their arms around each other and just kept saying “good race!” It was the cutest thing.
What makes your community special?
Nocatee is the most amazing place! It is full of wonderful people who love community, their neighbors, and living a healthy lifestyle. There is an abundance of gratitude and joy in our community. People are happy to live here, and it shows in the way they live their lives!
What’s some advice you would like to share with fellow Community Coordinators?
Many hands make light work. We have the best volunteers. When we first started, course setup and breakdown took forever. But now we have volunteers that make it quick work – like a well-oiled machine! We have success with high school cross-country runners.

All four of us raced at the 2025 Boston Marathon!
