Sophie Alden and Jack Pickett ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (Saturday 10th May).
Our weekly parkrun top ten is sponsored by the Coggiola Endurance Centre, a residential coaching and performance facility in the Italian Alps. Follow on Instagram for more updates in the new future.
With a 16:40 outing at Long Eaton parkrun, Sophie Alden takes the honours as the fastest female this weekend. That is a parkrun best for the City of Norwich AC athlete best known for her triathlon exploits rather than just running. Part of British Triathlon’s Olympic World Class Programme, Sophie has a 5k PB of 16:45, set at Podium in 2021. This is her first Power of 10 entry this year.
On the men’s side, it is Jack Pickett who sits at the top of the rankings. He completed (the excellently named) The Wammy parkrun in 14:58. His run is the only one inside fifteen minutes this week. It is his fastest time at this course (which he’s visited twice before), although shy of his 14:43 fastest parkrun. Jack is a parkrun regular and last featured at the top of the rankings in October 2024.
Best of the Rest
Charlie Arnell and Phoebe Barker complete the women’s top-three this weekend. Charlie ran 16:57 at University Parks whilst Phoebe completed her home course at Tonbridge in 17:08. On the men’s side, Simon Crawford’s 15:09 and Alexander Miell-Ingram’s 15:23 see them second and third. The pair ran at Alexandra (Moss Side) and Poole respectively.
Fastest Course
Seventeen courses feature across the top-tens this week, with a close battle for the title of fastest course. We have a first and fifth place, and a second and fourth place. Perhaps it is a tie – do share your thoughts! Congratulations to The Wammy and Alexandra (Moss Side).
