The third Diamond League meeting of the year takes place in Doha on Friday, with Jemma Reekie amongst the British athletes competing.
Jemma Reekie will open her 2025 outdoor season at the Doha Diamond League on Friday (16 May). The Scot will compete in the women’s 1500m, her first face over the distance since finishing fifth at the European Championships last June. She has a PB of 3:58.65, set at the Silesia Diamond League in 2023.
It is familiar surroundings for Jemma. She opened her season last year at the same meeting where she finished second in the 800m. It was the first of an impressive eight Diamond League appearances, including one win in Stockholm (photo below). Yesterday, it was confirmed she will return to that meeting next month alongside Keely Hodgkinson and Georgia Hunter Bell.
Doha is also home to Jemma’s senior Great Britain debut. She contested the 1500m at the 2019 World Championships, finishing tenth in her heat. Since then, Jemma has since raced at two Olympic Games, a further two World Championships and won silver at a home World Indoor Championships.
On Friday, she will face seven sub-four runners, the fastest being Kenyan Susan Ejore. The race is at 20:08 local time (18:04 UK time) and will be streamed on the BBC Red Button.
